What is the Essential Question that drives my work?
My work this year investigates the different colours of Earth. How many different environments can I convey through colour?
I got to experiment quite a bit over the course of my investigation. White, Green, and Blue all use a different forms of lighting in comparison to my other pieces. While I had never used this technique before, I absolutely love it! I'm planning to use it much more often as I think it helps convey the mood of my pieces.
While working on Green, I was able to experiment with a new colour, shading, and lighting techniques With Pink, I got to mess around with watercolor for the first time in a while! Working on Yellow, Green, and Blue was fun, as I was able to get variety by switching up perspectives.
My first piece, White, was revised because the initial layout and colours looked unnatural and stiff. Using critiques from my peers, I was able to edit the piece to something I'm much happier with! Pink was revised to make the leaves appear more natural, and to add variation into the perspective of my pieces. Green Blue was revised a LOT because I struggled with perspective and lighting. Turns out it's a difficult colour to work with! Throughout the course of my investigation, one thing I struggled a bit with was coming up with landscapes that fit the colour and the mood of the piece I wanted to create.
